Volunteering - We welcome volunteers on our projects for the most impactful experience. Please browse our current projects below and contact us at info@bluedragonflyfoundation.org if you are interested. Volunteer applications will be evaluated based on need and experience.

Dalit Girls' School Project
Blue Dragonfly is partnering with Khawalung Foundation in Kathmandu to provide educational opportunities to Dalit girls. The girls, from the remote western Himalayan region of Nepal, belong to the poorest families and are considered untouchables. Untouchables or Dalits, are at the lowest social strata and hierarchy of the Indian / Nepali caste system. They are considered unclean, and impure and are tasked with and relegated to the types of work that the higher castes would not agree to do or undertake.
Our dream is to help change the trajectory of the girls' lives starting with the Dalit community in Mugu and surrounding areas. We have doubled our students since 2023 and now have 40 girls. We are getting more requests to help as word has gotten out. The growing interest and demand is quickly outpacing our ability to serve in the current capacity.
Ways To Get Involved:

Contributions to meet our short and long term funding goals.

Short-term funding - Raise $8,000 USD to cover the annual operating cost of the school. This includes the building rental cost, teacher and warden salaries, food, clothing and other necessities.

Long-term funding - We are preparing for 2025 and beyond. Our longer-term goal is to raise money to purchase land and build the school from the ground up. Our vision is to have a fully functioning school that can accommodate several hundred students, a dormitory, a kitchen / canteen, a medical clinic, recreational area and more.

Mentoring to help expand and empower the students.
- Partnership to provide vocational opportunities. The school covers grades from elementary to high school. After high school, we would like the girls to have the option to go abroad through partnerships with vocational schools. The school currently has a relationship with a vocational school in Japan that will enroll the students upon high school graduation. The vocational school offers training in nursing, physical therapy, hospitality industry, etc. They guarantee job placement and an expedited working visa. Please help us build this network so more opportunities are available.

Lama Higher Education Project
Blue Dragonfly is excited to announce the latest project to sponsor lamas (monks) for higher education – an initiative that blends spiritual dedication with academic empowerment. Countless monks harbor aspirations for advanced education but encounter financial obstacles. Our initiative aims to dismantle these barriers by offering sponsorship opportunities to talented scholars.
These lamas are currenly being educated to high school level. Several of them have demonstrated a keen interest and aptitude for going beyond e.g. in the sciences / medical field, Tibetan & Buddhist studies, etc.
By sponsoring a lama for higher education, you are not only investing in an individual's academic journey but also contributing to the preservation of Nepal's profound spiritual heritage. Monks, with their deep spiritual insights and cultural significance, are integral to the spiritual fabric of Nepalese society.
